So now allegations have surfaced about serious misconduct by News Corporation in Australia as well.
Given what we've learned about News of the World, a New Corp asset, and what I heard about New Corp lived I lived in Australia, I would not be surprised if this was true. My opinion of the Murdochs has been low for years, but they seem to be actively trying to lower it to the very bottom.
Speaking of the very bottom, please do reassure me that Rick Santorum could never be President of the US! I read up some on him after hearing some many Americans make remarks about him, and my brain can just not compute that shit. I mean, he has no serious chance - right? RIGHT?!
Right. Memes I was tagged for!
Comment to this post, and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.
denorios gave me these seven.
London - I like London. Mainly because I am an utter Anglophile, which is a common affliction among Norwegians. It's a combination of things: So much BBC programming airing on our main TV channel as I grew up, the residual affection Norway has for the UK due to WWII, the football, the fact that the UK is a sort-of-neighbour, common cultural stuff... In addition, I love the accents. "Lie back and think of England" would actually be a come-on for me. Though, to be fair, I do rank the Scottish, Welsh and Irish accent just a bit ahead of the main British ones. But still. Mmm, British Isles, talk to me! So yes, London. Dig it. (Also haven't been there for some years now. Bad Cam.)
Summer - Summers in Norway tend to be very hit and miss, so I have slightly ambivalent feelings about summer. When it's great, it's amazing and lovely and sunshine on pretty fjords and mountains, but when it's bad... Meh. We endure winters with high spirits, skis and courage, we deserve good summers all the time! Come spring, good summer weather is pretty much what all Norwegians hope for, speculate about and barely dare predict. I also grew up in summers of midnight sun, and the light of that is something everyone should experience once in their lives.
Cherries - Um... They're red? I've been known to eat them on occasion? They're... Cherries? LOL, I have nothing to say about cherries. Don't hate them, don't love them, have no particular memories attached to them.
Facebook - I am on it, but I tend to be slightly careful who I friend - definitely not pupils, for instance. It's handy for keeping in touch with people, but it also has a lot of stuff on it I don't really care about or engage with. Also, a lot of Norwegians call it "fjesboka" because it sounds funny in our language.
Severus Snape - This is where I earn ire for mentioning I don't love Snape. I mean, he has some interesting character traits in the book, but the massive fandom love-on for him tends to make less interested in him. Yes, Alan Rickman is awesome and has a delicious voice, and perv merrily away on that! But don't try to make Snape the heroest hero that ever heroically heroed just because Alan Rickman is hot. I guess what I am saying is that the book!Snape I am a bit interested in, but the picture a lot of fandom paints of him? Do not want.
Grey - I like grey. I look okay in grey. It can be worn with most other colours without being quite as dark as black, which is good in summer.
Jeans -- I wear a lot of jeans. Most of them are grey or shades of black. I do have some other trousers, but jeans make out the majority. I applaud the invention of them.
Ships! It's almost like a fandom in itself. So, make a post with your first ship, your most recent ship, a couple you think only you ship, a ship that isn't your normal cup of tea, a ship you've fallen out of love with and five ships you're particularly fond of (not previously mentioned).
(Not tagging people, do it if you want to.)
My first ship: Rita and Chris and/or Princess Calla and Calvin
I had a bit of a think on this. My most common reply is Rita and Chris of Silk Stalkings, a 90s cop show where the two were partners. (Not the last partner pairing I'd go for, either.)

They be cute.
But it is also true that I remember wanting Calvin and Princess Calla on the Gummi Bears to become rulers together when I watched the show as a kid, so that could perhaps qualify as well.
Most recent ship: Andrew and Bridget
Ah, Ringer. The show is not the greatest thing ever, but it has a certain enjoyable soapiness and I find this pair utterly adorable and cute. Even if she is pretending to be her twin sister who she thinks is dead but is really trying to get her killed. Er, yes. It helps Andrew is played by a hot Welshman who gets to keep his accent.

Aaaw. If the show ends after just one season, I will have to write some sort of fix-it happily-and-adorably-ever-after for them.
A couple you think only you ship: Chromie/the Doctor
Wait, what? Right. Chromie, or Chronormu, is a bronze dragon from World of Warcraft who frequently appear as a gnome. Pictures The bronze dragonflight are basically guardians of time - yes, time lords as dragons. Chromie is cheerful, interacts with mortals a lot more than others of her race and sometimes get her timelines a bit confused. Sound familiar?
So yes. I ship her with the Doctor. Shut up, it works in my head. I even snuck it into a fic once.
A ship that isn't your normal cup of tea: Legolas and Gimli.
Slash doesn't normally do all that much for me. I can read it and enjoy the prose, but in itself, it does nothing for me either way. But I've loved Legolas and Gimli together since I first read the books. It's not because I have no other options either - I adore Faramir and Éowyn in the books as well. I don't know, they're just... Right for each other, platonic or otherwise.

Not as awesome in the movies as in the books, but still.
A ship I've fallen out of love with: Eric/Sookie
Yeah. Not a huge fan of how the show introduced those two hooking up and shagging it out. It had moments where it might have been awesome and then... No. I like my hot Vikings (even if they're Swedes), but the TV show's handling of it pretty much killed my interest.
Five I'm particularly fond of (that hasn't been mentioned):
Peter/Olivia (Fringe)
Michael/Nikita (Nikita)
Adama/Roslin (BSG)
Arthur/Gwen (Merlin)
Sheridan/Delenn (Babylon 5)
