Cam's kidneys make trouble, Sherlock porn makes a professor late for class
So guess who got herself hospitalized for kidney inflammation? Yeah, that would be me. I got sent to the emergency room on Tuesday with major pain (seriously, I don't think I've ever been in so much pain), throwing up, a fever etc and they did a whole bunch of tests and eventually a CT and concluded I got an inflammation around the kidneys. I had never heard of this before, but apparently it can happen and can be rather serious if not treated, and can even kill you in the end. I was put on some intravenous drugs and then sent home with a whole bunch of pills the next day. So now I am home taking my medicine like a good girl while in minor pain and feeling vaguely sorry for myself. It's not helped by the fact that my parents are in Spain (on holiday) so they can't come and nurse me, and nursing yourself isn't the same.

This was not how I envisioned my week would go. But yeah. That happened.

I hope you're having a better week than me.

A secret confesses that a professor was late for class due to reading Sherlock porn.

... and the comments explode. Since I teach myself (and is fannish about stuff, though not at work) I am vaguely amused.

I've never known anyone who experienced kidney inflammation, however both my brother and my best friend had kidney stones and the symptoms sound similar. My best friend said it was worse pain than giving birth. I'm really sorry you had to go through that. I hope the medication clears up the condition quickly. How long is your course of treatment to be? Also, were you told what the doctors thought caused the kidney inflammation?

I hope you feel better soon!

Yeah, they thought it might be kidney stone at first, but they found stuff in my blood that indicated an inflammation of some sort, so they sent me to a CT to check it out. Kidney inflammation is apparently something that happens to 1 in 1000 people so it's not terribly common. I had never heard of it. It's caused by bacteria coming up the urine tracts but I don't really know what causes that.

I have not given birth, but I can safely say I cannot remember having been in so much pain before. They gave me some shots to relieve it because I was going so mad from it. First time I've had to be hospitalized in living memory as well.

I am on treatment until the end of this week. Hopefully it will work without any problems. (I am in far less pain now, but it's still a bit ow and I'm bit sore on my left side.)

Thanks :)

Holy sh... That sounds beyond unpleasant, even beyond horrible! I hope you're feeling better by now and I wish you a speedy recovery. ♥ ♥ ♥

Also, I received your package! I sent you a PM full of gushing thanks for the books, but I think you probably haven't seen it yet, due to the hospitalization. *hugs*

I haven't dealt with all my e-mails yet, no. But glad to hear the books arrived safely :)

I am better than I was on Tuesday, that's for sure. Still not great but I'm still on treatment so I will give it some days.

Thanks :)

Yeek! I hope you feel better soon.

I took a look at the exploding comments, and wow. Vicious over a mistake much? I think the one that pointed out that there is no defining moment in a person's life when they're a full-on perfect adult wearing a suit sums it up.

Thanks.

Yeah, some of the comments were quite holy overreaction, Batman. Obviously fannish pursuits shouldn't interfere with work, but we're all human.

Oh no. I hope you get better as soon as possible.

Cannot believe the comments on that secret, considering I know professors. STUNNINGLY, THEY ARE PEOPLE TOO.

Thanks.

I teach myself so I found some of the comments quite amusing. Or maybe it's the drugs. Still, what a shocking revelation that people aren't just their jobs but also humans. Oh no.
