Stuff that is good, watch that wood burn for 12 hours
So it was my birthday and I had fun and cake, which is good.

My kidneys seem to have recovered and I am no longer hobbled over in pain, which is good.

I got some job offers to consider next year, which is good. In fact, I got a financially stable situation in a financially stable country, which is good and should not be taken for granted.

I've found Once Upon a Time fandom people who like the same stuff I do and now hang out a lot at FanForum's Once Upon a Time forum (mostly in the Snow/Charming threads) to chat about the show, which is good. (Tumblr is not great for talking.)

OUAT has also revived my urges to write fanfic, which is good.

lotus79 is coming to visit me for Easter, which is good.

What is good for you currently?

Meanwhile Norway had a 12-hour live broadcast of wood burning. As you do. And it was highly rated. Oh, Norway.

I've read about the wood burning programme. I LOLed. In a very affectionate way.

Would you believe it got pretty good ratings? And raised the very heated debate about how to stack wood again?

This pretty much encapsulates everything that I love about your country and why studying Norwegian is so rewarding for me. A language that is a gateway into this sort of culture? Sign me up.

You say that like it's weird. Canada has a 24 hour channel that shows a roaring fireplace for the winter holidays and it is very popular. ;)

It was weird to quite a lot of news outlets ;)

I guess it's because it wasn't just burning wood, but a whole production around it with music, stacking wood debates and all sorts of related stuff. We take that stuff very seriously.

Lol. Oh, it's totally weird. It's just the kind of weird Canadians can appreciate.

The wood burning is a beautiful thing (Australia does have televised wood chopping competitions sometimes but it's not entirely as awesome).

And yay good things! (Mine is that I might actually have your gift done some time this year, among other things)

Happy birthday! I'm glad you're feeling better.

*reads article, falls over laughing* And Norwegians wank over . . . how to stack the wood?! Delicious!

What's good for me? Weaaaallll . . . so not in the mood to think of good things while I'm still angry over something, but:

-- I have friends who want to help me by losing weight together.

-- It turns out my lap-band is just fine.

-- My cats greatly appreciate the cat bed I've made for them out of old torn pants, a huge box a neighbor scavenged from CostCo, and a heating pad.(They were wary of the strange new object at first, but when they discovered it had heating, they were sold on it.) I get a real charge out of walking by and seeing their grateful, content faces beaming up at me as they lie in each others' arms.

I love how the Charming/Snow thread is merged with the David/Mary one. Watching s1 made me love one and face-palm at the other.
